Thorneymire Woodland Retreat consists of 3-acres of Ancient Woodland within the Yorkshire Dales National Park...
Ancient Woodlands are home to myth and legend, where life has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of years and where folk tales began.
Their history can be traced back at least 400 years and often as far back as the last ice age. Many specialist species of insects,
birds and mammals rely on ancient woodlands for their survival.
Sadly, there are very few remaining in the UK. Here at Thorneymire we are extremely lucky to have red squirrels living and thriving in our woodland.
We are a small family business and we feel very privileged to live at Thorneymire and to be able to act as caretakers to our amazing ancient woodland.
We would like to share the history, peace and tranquillity of this place with our guests.
Dogs: Due to the fact that we are based in an ancient woodland with a protected red squirrel population dogs are not allowed in any of the cabins.
